20 tips for a successful road trip during a pandemic

We recently did a road trip across Europe. We’ve also had a few road trips in the states since this pandemic started. Turns out, traveling by land in the comfort of your own vehicle is a great way to have a family adventure in a relatively safe way during this unprecedented time.
Here’s how we made it happen and stayed healthy along the way.
Before I dive in, understand that road trips are NOT for leisure (at least not for our family). They are for exploring, photo ops, and fast adventure. If you want to relax, this post may not be for you.
We’re still in the midst of a pandemic. Why bother?
Very valid question and something we thought about a lot before making our decision. Here’s our reasoning but you decide what makes sense for you.
- Proximity. During the pandemic we were fortunate to work remotely and hence found ourselves working in Europe for the summer to visit loved ones. Our road trips back in the states to give our children much-needed playdates with my nephews had been the perfect test run to iron out the kinks of how we travel by land. And it made us feel confident in our decision to embark on such an adventure here in Europe too.
